More after the break!
Shredders are lesser warbeats (small based) that add a little bit of punch and utility to the force. Their animus plus Rabid make them capable of surprisingly vicious attacks. The four that are included in the battlegroup are more than you'd ever need (it'd be cool to have two stingers/harriers), but it's not a bad idea to put a few on a Beast Mistress or have Thagrosh run a pack of them.
Up next is the heavy of the group, the Carnivean. It follows the same color scheme as the shredders, but with more armor I tried different color patterns. I'm on the fence with this result, which basically looks like frosted tips. I guess that means I'll call this beast Gore Fieri.
Looks aside, the Carnivean is the workhorse Legion Heavy. While most beasts specialize in a given way of doing damage, the Carnivean just beats anything it can get its big hands on. With two open fists, Assault with a breath weapon, and a nasty bite, this beast can dish out serious hurt. It also brings the Spiny Growth animus to the battlegroup, which is one of the best for Legion.
Last and by no means least, Lylth is the Warlock for the group. While she seems basic, she has quite a few tricks up here sleeve that can result in some awesome plays. Bushwhack, Witch Mark, and the Parasite Spell allow to a focus fire play style. And when the attacks of four shredders and a carnivean are focused on a target, that target is not long for the world. Lylyth's feat is simple but impressive for alpha strikes: all attacks gain an additional to hit die!
Next on the hobby table is perhaps one of my biggest challenges yet: I'm working on an Axis tier list, which involves lots of infantry. I have two units of obstructors and reductors each that need to be assembled, based, and painted. For those keeping count, that's forty models! Oddly enough, compared to my Tau, this army will still be bigger in regards to gross model count. Keep an eye out for updates!
