Hobby update Q1 2015: Miserable Failure (Or: how I learned the hard way to make SMART goals with my hobby time)

It's an Iron Reagan kind of week (hence the title).

As with any responsible hobbyist, when life happens we have to work at balancing our free time and obligations. For me, that balance has been out of whack for the past few weeks. Grants, conferences, and teaching have eaten up a huge part of my schedule, leaving with next to no hobby progress to speak of. Today's post is a lamentation of that lack of progress as well as a plan to get back on track.

Lists for the list god: What the Convergence is bringing to the weekend game

With a bunch of TW members going to Indy this week, It's time to whip up some lists for a few games!  Each person is bringing 2 35-point lists, so for me that means a Syntherion tier list and whatever I can cobble together for Axis. Both casters have new toys to play with, so let's see what we're capable of.

Today we'll cover Syntherion's list. Later in the week, we'll give Axis some list love.

Prime Time: Assembling and Painting the Convergence Colossal (Part 1)

Much like any other hobbyist, real life takes its toll on the time I want to spend dorking out.  However, I've been pretty good about sticking with the 40k kill team and WMH campaign, even with all of these work related deadlines.  So why the recent lack of a post?  Well, it's actually something hobby related.  Sometimes a project comes up that you really can't say no to.  Today's post is the first of a few covering that project.

It's a big one!

So this will probably be one of the last additions to the swans for awhile.... But what an addition he is.

40k Kill Team: Fire Warriors complete

You may not have guessed, but TW used to be big on Warhammer 40k.  Most of us had pretty impressive armies.  Nowadays they just take up space on the shelf, neglected as the Games Workshop community.

Still, I have a fondness for my Tau army as it was my first entry into the wargaming hobby.  Every so often I think of revisiting those models to finish a team, touch up a model, or list build on a larger scale.  In today's post I do just that, and get back to work on the Greater Good.
