More after the break!
With the river and ponds, we used the GF9 grasses supplied in the kits. It was pretty limited, so we went with a patchy distribution of foliage. To adhere the grass to the resin we simply watered down PVA glue and brushed it onto the surfaces we wanted to have vegetation. The light green grass occurs in clumps on the banks, while the dark green grass/moss thrives underneath the rocks. This gave the scenery a more realistic feel with what limited resources we had. Finally, around the waters' edge we did a little bit of drybrushing with GW's Hellion Green dry compound. Citadel's dry compounds are one of the few GW products that I actually love. It makes drybrushing so easy!
For the rocky outcrops, we covered all of the bare ground with the Army Painter meadow grass (the same that I put on my Tau bases). The effect is great, but I may come back to this piece later. With so many sheer surfaces, it'd be cool to paint some symbols onto the rock surfaces.
A 25-28mm model can fit through the rocky arch. |
My girlfriend came up with this brilliant idea. I shudder to think of where I would I be without her help. |
That's all I got for today, but there's a lot more coming down the pipe. First and foremost, I'm doing another big sale on eBay of old/unused models (mostly Tau), so check back again at the end of the week to see what's for sale. I'm also getting back into 40k, albeit slowly. I'm currently painting a 200-point kill team for future games. Finally, and perhaps the most exciting, I'm starting to write a campaign for Warmachine/Hordes. Look for a draft of the rules by the end of the month. Ultimately, I'll try to make a campaign booklet through iBooks Author so the final product will look sleek and professional (-ish). When it's completed I'll put it up on the blog for a free download!
